AIS Team Progresses to Sri Lanka Finals in Prestigious Change It Challenge

  • Post category:Blog

The Change It Challenge is an international competition hosted by Monash University, Australia, that invites students to develop creative solutions for major global issues like climate change and building thriving communities.
Yash Nanayakkara, Murad Mubarak, and Minuka Alexander were the 3 members of the AIS team for the competition – they are students who are deeply passionate about climate change and environmental protection, having pioneered and conducted the famous Green Tree Project in December.
The team developed an innovative idea – The Black Gold Project – involving the reconstruction and reimagination of the plant supplement biochar into a brand new form. Combining it successfully with new organisms and organic materials such as Tricoderma, the team created the brand new Black Gold. They further tested and conducted it in the lab, yielding real results and showing clear signs of innovation and skill.
We are proud to inform that the team has been chosen as a finalist for the Sri Lanka In-Country finals, following a submission of their presentation of the Black Gold.
Congrats to Yash, Murad, and Minuka, and we wish you all the best for the Finals!!!
