We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Rayyan Lafir, who won first place at the All Island Schools’ National Startup Innovation Competition, organized by S. Thomas’ College in partnership with Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW). Rayyan designed an innovative walking stick for visually impaired individuals, crafted from PVC pipe and equipped with a sensor-based obstacle detection system. The walking stick provides dual feedback through sound and vibration alerts, offering greater safety and independence to its users. This remarkable accomplishment showcases Rayyan’s creativity, technical skill, and dedication to social innovation. Manuthi Nesakya Dias of AIS has been admitted to New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) as an Early Decision candidate and will be joining the Class of 2029 this September. She has been awarded financial aid from NYUAD, covering 100% of her tuition, with only half of her accommodation expenses remaining.NYUAD, a global campus of New York University located in the UAE, is a highly selective liberal arts and research university, home to students from over 120 countries. The university is known for its rigorous academics, strong emphasis on undergraduate research, and commitment to developing future global leaders.Having studied STEM subjects at AIS, Manuthi plans to continue in that direction. While she won’t be required to declare a major until the end of her second year, she intends to major in Engineering or Chemistry.

We are thrilled to share that Hrithick Aravinth, a current School Prefect of Asian International School, has been offered admission to Tokyo International University (TIU) in Japan with a 100% academic scholarship. In addition, he has received a Model United Nations scholarship.TIU is known for its strong emphasis on global leadership, cross-cultural exchange, and academic excellence. With students from over 100 countries and a curriculum centered around international perspectives, it provides the perfect environment for students passionate about global affairs. Hrithick will begin his studies in September 2025.
