National swimmer and breaststroke specialist Christina Perumal of Asian International School (AIS) stole the spotlight at the 50th MILO All Island Schools Age Group Aquatic Championship, breaking three meet records and winning three gold medals to claim the Under-20 Age Group Champion title at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex.

The six-day event, organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association (SLSASA), is the biggest school-level swimming meet in the country, bringing together nearly 5,000 student-athletes from across Sri Lanka.

Eighteen-year-old Christina Perumal, who is already one of Sri Lanka’s top-ranked breaststroke swimmers, delivered a series of powerful performances that proved her class and consistency.

She first made an impact in the 200m Breaststroke, clocking 2 minutes 48.94 seconds to smash the previous record of 2:53.01 set by Nawanjana Siriwardena of Lyceum International School, Wattala in 2023.

Christina followed it up with an outstanding win in the 50m Breaststroke, setting another new meet record of 36.21 seconds, erasing Siriwardena’s 2024 mark of 37.04. Earlier in the heats, she had already broken the record with a time of 36.32 seconds.
